Stuart Weitzman Receives Rare Honorary Recognition from Spain…

Recognized for the impact and prestige his efforts have given to the footwear and handbag industry in the Elda, Petrel, and the Rio Vinalopo region of Spain – where his products are produced, Stuart Weitzman has been named “El Hijo Predilecto Adoptivo de Elda” – which translates to “Favorite Adopted Son of Elda”. Stuart Weitzman, honored with this prestigious and elite title, was acknowledged for his extraordinary employee relations as well as being primarily responsible for Elda’s international status as a first-class global manufacturing city of footwear.

Being named “The Favorite Son” is a rare recognition, which has been bestowed upon only 4 people since the end of the Spanish war, 70 years ago. Since Stuart is the only non-Spaniard to ever receive the prestigious “El Hijo Predilecto” Honor, the city of Elda has “adopted” him as one of their own.

Expressing his deep appreciation at the certificate award ceremony, Stuart said, “Throughout the world, many individuals contribute greatly to a city’s well being, yet go unrecognized. I feel great pride to be honored by the citizens of Elda for whom I have great respect.” Imprinted on his certificate was the name of Don, the Spanish title of respect. He will now be noted as “Don Stuart Weitzman” within the Spanish region.
